What a year it has been already! It seems that somewhere along the way, summer disappeared yet again, which makes me sad and truthfully a little excited too. My favorite season is summer (mostly because I am a freeze baby and my birthday is in July). BUT, this is the time when we open the market and I get to see all of our faithful and loyal customers (and love meeting the new ones too). Summer is when we get to gettin’- our corn starts popping up, there are veggies growing in the fields, and my father, Bob Luther, disappears for hours on his trusty old tractor. Tim, my brother and cousin Andy work countless hours bailing hay, taking care to make sure the animals and the farm is tended to, and that the market (traveling markets as well) run safe and smooth. There is no doubt it is a busy and fruitful season. Our wonderful employees and especially the farmers work tireless hours and it is your support that makes us feel appreciated in the community.

Which brings me to why I am so excited. September is always a crazy busy time for everyone- school starts back up, sports begin, and the community at large prepares for fall and that terrible season that follows, winter. Leaves drop off the once green trees and colder temperatures approach. This is FALL people! It is here! The month of September is our preparation time for Fall Fest, which happens every weekend in October. This annual event brings out hundreds of people- whether it is to pick the perfect pumpkin, go for a nice afternoon hay ride with the family, or to see the pumpkins fly! (And if you don’t know what I am talking about, you gotta check it out- an awesome pumpkin cannon which Farmer Bob constructed himself!) In past years, we have edited our festivities, changed things around, added and subtracted attractions. This year is no different and I have to say, the events that are on the agenda seem pretty fabulous! Our hard-working Aunt Gale (wife of the late Eddie Luther) has been wracking her brain for some hot new ideas, man let me tell you- this is going to be one year you don’t want to skip out on visiting us! As we get details finalized, I will post them with the event, date, and time so that you can plan accordingly. As always, it is essential that you stop out to get all of your fall needs, which include pumpkins, gourds, mini hay bales (or large if you prefer), cornstalks, and indian corn. We will have the usual: hay rides, corn maze, petting farm, pumpkin cannon, and of course some delicious food. This is what makes my October so special. The fact that we get to see all of you enjoy yourself on the land that we have called home for the past 110 years. It truely makes all the hard work and long hours worth it. Family farms are becoming scarce and it is awesome that we have been able to thrive for this long…we couldn’t have done it without YOU! Thank you for all of your support throughout the years and I can’t wait to see you again this October!

Happy Farming =) ~Sarah Luther
